High temperatures generally drop around the mid-80s, while the low ones at night are around the mid-50s, so the weather is much friendlier for hiking in the beautiful mountain ranges and there is no scorching heat on the beaches. We recommend that you become your home base in Marrakech, one of the country's most beloved cities, full of gardens, palaces and beautiful mosques.

October brings budget hotel prices and a pleasant climate to explore the Medina's many shops and narrow alleys. Just off the coast of Spain and Africa are the Canary Islands, best known for their volcanic origins and black and white sand beaches. In October, temperatures are generally 70 and 80 degrees, allowing for a relaxed and comfortable getaway to the island. Although all the islands are wonderful in their own way, consider a trip to Gran Canaria.

Temperatures range from mid-20s to 30s, but may be lower in the sun. That means it's very hot to enjoy beaches like the famous Ponta da Piedade, but it makes October perfect for exploring.

Take a boat trip to watch dolphins, stroll through the old town of Lagos or head inland to the impressive mountain region of Monchique, perfect for nature walks. While the Greek Islands are summer's favorite holiday destination, Athens looks forward to October as crowds disperse and the city settles into autumn. Enjoy the multi-colored landscape up close on a hike through Mount Parnitha National Park, a park with more than 70 trails for walkers of all ages and ability levels and a couple of mountain huts where you can stay the night or just stop for a hearty meal after a day of hiking. .
